July 6, 2026 Dear Studio Friends, July 1st was the halfway mark of my time here in New Mexico. The "feels like" time is contradictory — I still feel new here and, at the same time, everything I've been able to work on makes it feel like years since I arrived. The newest project is lithography, which is a new process for me. A recent graduate from the Tamarind Institute is here in Roswell to collaborate with some of the resident artists on editions of prints. It's been fascinating to learn about the techniques, the history, and the world of lithography, and it's been especially fun to have the chance to draw on a stone. This project has created a connection back to my early image-making, when I was focused on printmaking, mostly relief printing. I shifted to sculpture in undergrad, but a lot of the work I've made since then has really been three-dimensional printmaking — cast objects carrying the texture of their molds, printed onto the surfaces. Accumulating layers and using pressure to make marks are printmaking ideas I've been using in sculpture for a long time. I don't know where this current print project leads yet, but I'm glad to be learning it. More soon. Thank you for joining me,
