March 4, 2025 Dear Studio Friends, After two months at the Roswell Artist-in-Residence program, one of the most surprising discoveries has been finding deeper connections across bodies of work. Connections across series have always been present — both inherent and intentional — but recently I've been uncovering deeper layers: across concepts, materials, time. Groups of work moving in different directions are also deeply connected in ways I hadn’t seen before. These connections have begun guiding decisions across the work. Broken Boxes are generating drawings that are in turn answering color questions within the Unconformity sculptures, which are guiding the materials evolution of the Log series. What makes this possible is the ability to work continuously and slowly. To be still, and to keep looking. I can see real change from month one to month two. The biggest surprise has been how much more there is to do now. Holding ideas across days and following threads of connection opens new directions constantly. Suddenly there's so much more I want to make and explore. It feels like an exponential expansion is beginning. Thank you for joining me. More soon, ~Lydia
